A Miraculous Rescue By Vickie Stam

Have you ever imagined what the world would look like if every person chose to follow the same itinerary - the bible. A beautifully detailed plan for your journey with a guide that will never steer you wrong.

But not everyone sees the bible as a book that contains an all knowing direction for our lives. And not all of us reach for the bible even when we know that it is chalked full of instruction, forewarning, help and guidance - all the things necessary for our journey.

I'm glad that I'm one of those people who has chosen to use God's word as a guide. But, I still have to admit there are times when life throws up a road block and I don't end up reaching for the one true guide I know.

TIME: A word that can make me feel like I'm drowning.
  - I don't have time.
  - I need to know what time it is.
  - What time are we leaving?
  - What time do we need to be there?
It seems as if time has a way of changing the course I'm on and yet God paints us a comforting picture of time.
           * There is a time for every matter under heaven.
           * So teach us to number our days so that we may get a                 heart of wisdom.
           * The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord                               establishes his steps.

NEED: Another word that often expresses my wants rather than my real needs.
  - I need more time
  - I need a break
  - I need a vacation
  - I need to stop
There are times when the things I think I need nullify what I actually need.
           * So do not be like them for your Father knows what                     you need before you ask Him.
           * But my God shall supply all your need according to                   his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
           * For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your                 Father knows that you need them all.

Time and need. These two ordinary words have a way of affecting my journey when I least expect it. Last year was a difficult year for me and I had to make a point of not allowing those two words to become intertwined. Composed in the same sentence almost always managed to conjure up a negative reaction. Feeling so overwhelmed I turned to God's word. I prayed. I read books about healing and facing my giants and in the middle of my search, God whispered the words I needed to hear.

There is nothing hum-drum about God's itinerary. His plan  took me to a place I never dreamed of - Equine Assisted Therapy. This program challenged me to reach inside of myself, allow myself to bond with one of God's most amazing creatures. Big and intimidating to me in the past, I fell in love with my four-legged friend, Saemus. With his help I learned how to face my giants all the while building confidence, confronting my past, building trust, developing problem solving skills, setting healthy boundaries and so much more.

Yes, our journey took oodles of time nevertheless it was something I needed. But isn't that just like our God - to pluck us from the fire and miraculously rescue us.

I look forward to what God has in store for me in 2020.

    1. Hi Vickie! I love your consideration of time and need. Time can make me feel like I'm drowning as well. Even in retirement I can allow time to control me. I am so happy for you in meeting Saemus and how you two got along together. Thank God for sending Saemus to rescue you. Hugs to you, my friend.

  3. Hi Vickie, so good to read your post. I do connect with the time constraint pressure that I often place on myself. I marvel at how I can feel like I have no time!! And yet time for what? Spending time with God is always time well spent, thanks for this lovely reminder. And I do wish for you a continued journey with your four legged friend, or whatever other interesting thing God has for you. Blessings!!
